Unique Run & Music Experience in Vanuatu

Be part of a new kind of island race in Vanuatu — where trail running meets music, youth creativity, community tourism, and island celebration.

Talefa Volcano Rap & Run 2026 will take place on 10 October 2026 across the sister islands of Nguna and Pele, only a short transfer from Port Vila. The event will feature a trail run on Nguna followed by a post-race Rap concert and celebration on Pele.

Building on the success of the Talefa Run in 2023 and 2024, this special edition will open the event to runners from Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Australia, and beyond. Organised by the local communities of Nguna and Pele islands and supported by Caldera Impact, the event is designed to support community-led tourism, youth talent, sports development, and music tourism in Vanuatu.

This is more than a race — it is a Run & Rap experience connecting sport, culture, ocean, community, and the energy of a new generation.

Race Distances

ELITE RUN – Approx. 21 KM  and 1100mD+ ELEVATION

Minimum age 16 years old (needs family consent or waiver) or 18yo

Embark on a journey like no other in the Elite Run! 

Traverse 2 ancient volcanoes, and relish panoramic views of Shepherd Islands and Efate. Immerse in culture by passing through vibrant villages. It will be an unforgettable experience that will drive you in Nguna’s unknown places ! 

CHALLENGING RUN – Approx. 15 KM and 800mD+ ELEVATION.

Minimum age 16 years old

Experience Nguna’s beauty on a slightly shorter trail but also challenging, soaking in breathtaking landscapes.

You will traverse 2 ancient volcanoes, encounter diverse ecosystems, from lush gardens to wild canes, plantations, and serene creeks. Don’t miss this unique adventure and opportunity to discover unkown places in Nguna! 

 

FAMILY HIKE (team of 2 – 1 adult, 1 kid) Approx. 8 KM & 500mD+ ELEVATION.

Minimum age 7 years old

You are looking for a real family challenge ? Experience Nguna’s beautiful landscapes and villages in family with your kids (minimum age 10 years old).

You will traverse 1 ancient volcanoe, encounter diverse ecosystems, from lush gardens to wild canes, plantations, vibrant villages. Don’t miss this unique adventure and opportunity to discover unkown places in Nguna! 

The Trail – From Island Paths to Ocean Views

Run through the natural beauty and community landscapes of Nguna, one of Vanuatu’s most accessible and scenic islands.

The race route will take participants through a mix of village paths, coastal sections, forest tracks, gardens, ridgelines, and viewpoints from the top of its two dormant volcanoes overlooking the ocean and surrounding islands.

Rap & Music Celebration on Pele

After the run, the event continues on Pele with a post-race hip-hop concert and island celebration.

This special edition has been designed to shine a light on young talent in Vanuatu’s music industry, especially in the rap genre. The programme will feature emerging Vanuatu rap artists, hip-hop dance performances, and local entertainment.

Talefa Rap & Run brings together runners, artists, youth, communities, partners, and visitors around one shared experience: sport, music, culture, and island energy.

Packages are designed to make the event simple, inclusive, and accessible for different types of participants: runners, accompanying family members, local participants, expats, international visitors, and supporters.

Bungalow Packages

Our bungalow packages are the most comfortable option for participants who want accommodation included. Basic local island bungalow close to the beach. No hot water. 

Package Bungalow – 2 Nights
Perfect for runners and supporters joining the full weekend experience. This package includes accommodation for the night before and the night after the race, meals, return island transfers, access to the rap concert, and race participation for registered runners.

Package Bungalow – 1 Night
A shorter option for participants arriving directly on race day and staying one night after the event. This package includes one night of accommodation, all meals, return island transfers, access to the rap concert, and race participation for registered runners.

Camping Packages

Camping packages are a simple and affordable way to be part of the full Talefa weekend. Participants must bring their own tent.

Designed for local participants who want a budget-friendly two-night camping option. It includes camping space, selected meals, island transfers, access to the rap concert, and race participation for registered runners.

Package Camping International – 2 Nights
Designed for expat and international participants looking for a simple island camping experience. It includes camping space, selected meals, island transfers, access to the rap concert, and race participation for registered runners.

RunNomo Packages

For participants who mainly want to join the race without the full accommodation package.

For those who want to join the music side of the event without running.

Includes access to the rap concert and post-race celebration experience, one night in camping and voucher meal at the concert as well as boat transfers.
