First held in 2021 during Vanuatu’s border closures, the Yasur Volcano Run has grown from a local initiative into one of the Pacific’s most raw and exciting endurance events. Runners from around the world are invited to take on volcanic ash plains, jungle tracks, steep ridgelines, and unpredictable terrain shaped daily by the Earth’s energy. The run is fully led and organized by the Tanna community – from the course setup to the traditional welcome ceremonies, accommodation, and meals – every part of the experience is rooted in Tannese culture and hospitality.

And if you think you’ve trained hard, wait until you meet the barefoot runners of Tanna. These local legends grew up weaving through this terrain without shoes – and they’re fast. Really fast. Racing against them isn’t just humbling, it’s unforgettable.
